I am so thrilled to be included in this exhibition, opening on Sunday.
From the CJM:
The Dorothy Saxe Invitational, now in its eleventh iteration, gives contemporary artists from a variety of backgrounds the opportunity to delve into a Jewish tradition. While previous Invitationals have primarily focused around Jewish ceremonial and ritual objects, The 2017 Dorothy Saxe Invitational explores a Jewish idea—that of The Sabbath.
Inviting fifty-seven artists to comment on Sabbath—the day of rest—gives the diverse group an opportunity to examine the depth of the fourth commandment, its influences, and its universality. A pillar of many religions and a staple of the modern workweek, the ideas in the Sabbath are integral to how time is viewed. All works of art in the exhibition are for sale; proceeds benefit the artists and The CJM exhibition program.
